Okay, so one of my huge regrets of switching to Linux was that I had no application launcher like Launchy - which is just awesome in Windows. You just press Alt+Spacebar and a little window appears and you type in whatever program (or action/file/location...etc.) you want to launch and it pulls it up. Awesome stuff.
Well, I just heard about Gnome Do, a program similar to Launchy, but meant to be run in Gnome (a linux environment - note that it apparently also works with KDE and some other environments as well).
Pretty simple stuff really. Used these instructions.

Hey thanks for posting this. I just installed Ubuntu last night, and one of the first things I googled for afterwards was something like Launchy for Linux, and the first result I looked into is your blog post here. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Seems like they just dropped Launchy for Linux. Cheers mate!
I've been using my windows work box for some time with Launchy and haven't had much time to mess around with Linux.
I fired up the ol' Ubuntu and was as a loss. Not any more! Works great!
(Word of warning to others - Make SURE you follow the instructions laid out on the gnome-do website because the one in the Ubuntu repositories is old and is more difficult to do key-binding with.)
Thanks!
launchy does have a linux version... just thought i'd share it with you...
